Model 5-L Microscope

This is a good, low cost microscope. We carry this microscope because some people choose microscopes like this to do semen analysis. We do not recommend this microscope, or other microscopes with tungsten or halogen illumination for doing semen analysis. This microscope uses a tungsten bulb. The bulb gets very hot. It gets too hot for evaluating motility- remember sperm like it a bit cooler than body temperature. The temperature just above the bulb gets to over 200 degrees Fahrenheit and the temperature of the slide quickly gets to 130 degrees. The Model 5-L works fine for counting sperm.
We recommend that you consider any of our other microscopes. The Model 5 uses a mirror for cool illumination. All of our other microscopes use the cool light provided by a fluorescent bulb or an LED.
The Model 5-L is a high quality, low cost microscope. Features include precision optical system, achromatic, optical glass lenses, and rugged metal components engineered for years of reliable performance.
Optical System

- Revolving triple nosepiece with positive click stops for easy, precise magnification changes.
Illumination
- 115v 15-watt sub stage tungsten illuminator with on/off switch
Focusing
- Rack and pinion focusing.
- Slip clutch protects focusing mechanism from over-turning.
- Tension adjustment eliminates focus drift.
- Rack stop prevents damage to slides and lenses.
- Coarse and fine focus.
Stage
- 88mm x 82mm stage (3-1/2 in. x 3-1/4 in.) with locked-on, spring activated stage clips.
- Disc diaphragm.
Frame
- Rugged cast metal with inclination joint, gray enamel finish.

Five Year Limited Warranty
This instrument is guaranteed to be free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service for 5 years from date of purchase. This warranty does not cover damage resulting from abuse or misuse, repairs or alterations performed by other than authorized repair technicians or damage occurring in transit.
For warranty service, instrument should be well packed to avoid damage in transit, including a description of the difficulty, and shipped postage prepaid to Kokopelli Technologies, LLC at the address below. The instrument will be repaired or replaced at no charge and return postage prepaid. For customers living outside the United States, standard warranty service will be provided. However, inbound & outbound shipping cost is the responsibility of the consumer. If failure was caused by misuse, alterations, accident, or abnormal conditions of operation, an estimate for repairs will be submitted for your approval prior to work being performed
